The Beginning

This week your assignment is to post the beginning of something you've been working on.

This could be the exposition of your short story, the beginning of your fairy tale, or it could be something else entirely (perhaps something you started on 750words.com)

The second post is about anything your heart desires. Maybe you've read something interesting, seen a story on the news that moves you and is worth writing about.

Due Sunday at 11:59pm

The Past

It's been awhile, hasn't it?

Time to stretch those fingers and get back to blogging!

This week you are responsible for writing two posts.

One post should be about something in your past. This could be a general reflection, a time you learned something, a strong memory that you have etc.

Your second post is about whatever you want (perhaps you want to tell us some of your fairy tale retelling ideas?)

Turn in both of your posts HERE

Due Sunday at 11:59pm

Character

This week your assignment is to post about what you're writing--specifically, your characters. Pick ONE of your characters (protagonist, antagonist, or a supporting character) and answer the questions found here about them.

Essentially, you are creating a profile for one of your characters. Include a picture or two to help your readers (and you, as a writer) get a really good grasp on who you're writing about.

POST TWO
Write a short scene where you reveal some important part of your character through dialogue or point of view.

ALSO write ONE post about whatever your heart desires.

Due Sunday 4/7 at 11:59pm

Jealousy

Class,
We're getting close to the end--it's the last term! However, that does not mean it's ok to slack off. I have noticed your posts getting shorter and shorter, and less interesting. You have an entire week to write these responses--make sure they are GOOD.

Also, if you have not submitted your assignment via the google form by the deadline, you assignment will be considered LATE. So make sure you do it!

Also remember that we are now writing two posts a week. One on the topic I give you, one on whatever your heart desires.

Dreams

Our subconscious is a powerful tool not only for introspection, but is also a mine of good ideas for stories.

This week the topic is dreams.

Tell me about yours. Tell me what they mean. Tell me what they make you think about.

Embarrassment

Oh man.
Remember that time when that really embarrassing thing happened?
And you wanted to crawl under a rock a die? When you were sure that your life was ruined? Remember that?

Good.
Because now we're going to write about it!

Let's air out those embarrassing moments and get them off our chests. It'll feel better that way.

Fear

Clowns, public speaking and things that go bump in the night: all things the general populace is afraid of.

Your task this week is to post about fear.

What are you afraid of? How does fear influence your decisions? How you approach this is up to you, just make sure fear is the central theme.

Check out an example here or here or here.

Exploring

It's time to put some TLC into our blogs. You should have at least two posts: your Intro and your Poem that Matters.

Starting next week, you will be assigned to write two blog posts per week. One about a topic given on the blog, and one about whatever you want to write about. I will post the topic on Monday, and you will have until Sunday night to turn in your posts.

Today, I want you to spend some time exploring. Check out your classmate's blogs. Leave some comments.
I encourage you to leave constructive comments on all the blogs you read, but to help motivate you, you will be required to turn in the link to 5 comments you have left.

Poem That Matters

Please note: For this assignment I ask that you DO NOT use a song.

Now that you've completed The Great Poetry Hunt, it's time to share some of your findings! You need to post ONE of your favorite poems that you found on your blog. You're going to go a little above and beyond just posting though.

On your post, you need to include:
1. The title and entire poem
2. Brief biographical information about the poet
3. Brief explanation about why the poem matters to you (Why does it matter? What, specifically, about it moves you? Does it remind you of anything?)
4. Include some kind of visual that captures the feeling of the poem
